There are many dynamics of the USA Immunization Plan that need to go perfectly in order to achieve the goal of normalization, the situation is delicate with many unknowns and possibilities for less than perfect outcomes. Complicated and varied plans of the different states and the complex logistics are likely to cause problems and delays. Business Organization Leaders need to be prepared for further delays and possible setbacks in the current immunization plan. Political gamesmanship, misinformation and the discovery of multiple variations of Covid 19 is causing lack of confidence in the current vaccine options available at this time. At the time of this writing covid case numbers did not include any counts for any of the variants and the ability of current vaccines to prevent variant cases is still questionable.
Leaders should consider the possibility that the vaccination of all people wanting vaccines will not be completed before the first people that received the two vaccines will need additional vaccines when the efficacy is diminished.
There are many possibilities to be considered, new variants and mutations of the virus, spread of additional new viruses, failure to vaccinate enough people to establish “herd immunity”, new side effects develop over time. There is still a possibility that the variants could be more of a problem than Covid-19.
The duration of immunity for current Covid-19 vaccines should be considered as unknown until definitive studies have been concluded. Organization leaders should consider the possibility that normalization will not occur during the first cycle of two immunizations and may be delayed for a year or more.
Organization leaders should consider the possibility that the current vaccination treatment will not be effective for variations and mutations of the current Covid-19 virus and additional vaccines may be required for the variants of Covid-19.
Organisations need to be prepared for the possibility that the minimum number of immunizations needed for “herd Immunity” is not achieved and the possible government actions that may occur as a result. At the time of this writing it appears the number of people refusing vaccines will impact the ability to reach herd immunity numbers unless something changes soon.
Leaders need to establish correct priorities, “People First”, invest in what is needed to help employees now and what is needed to achieve sustainable profitable growth in the future. Investing in employees in times of disruption will yield many future returns.
Leaders need to learn from past mistakes and the mistakes of others to be prepared and to pivot in multiple directions and transform correctly and quickly at the first sign of trouble ahead, at the same time leaders need to be future ready to seize opportunities and grow ahead of competitors at the first sign of the new normal. Leaders should prepare to make big impacts when the new normalization is on the horizon to jump start growth and stay ahead of competition.
Emergency preparedness, business continuity and disaster recovery plans, including effective strategies for implementation, should be updated using lessons learned. During times of trouble Brands should be transformed into a source of future hope, a guiding light, a safe harbor, stability for customers and employees.
